Junior Update

A little late just a quick update on the recent Grand Prix and also my weekend at Birmingham Uni with England Squash.

Well done to all who played in the Grand Prix, some fine squash and as always a great spirit.

A new face on our newsletter, well done to Amiee for getting to the E grade final, a first for her. William continued his fine run by winning his C grade group, Emma and Caitlin progressed to the B grade semis by coming first and second in their group.

After 4 rounds Oli is second in the A group, Emma leads the B group, William leads the C group, well done to all who entered and played.

Secondly I spent the weekend with England Squash in Birmingham Uni deputising for Mike our Junior chair. The weekend (+ 1 day in march) was all about developing the junior prohgrams across England. Impressively 1/2 of the counties turned up and we had a great time exploring what great looks like and how we can help each other develop our junior program.

An impressive 2 days and a new venture for England Squash so hats off to them for setting this up.

After the first day we all had the chance to have a hit on the interactive court at the sports centre down the road. It was very interesting especially when they put a map of a Africa and asked us to hit Burkino Faso! Maybe a new venture here for squash players to do their home work.

The County close is at the end of the month and we hope to get lots of Junior entries and also some senior ones as well.

Martin and Alistair
